OpenReach  under the

microscope

Joe Garner OpenReach CEO was grilled on the BBC Radio 4 Today programme about the BT roll-out of “SuperFast” broadband. He appears to believe his own propaganda about their great success. He repeatedly claimed a 90% availability across the UK. Unfortunately the journalist didn’t challenge that assertion or clarify whether 90% of homes could be connected today! Sadly the reality on the ground is availability is a fraction of the marketing boasts. The City of London are dubious too, they seem to think BT is holding out to force small businesses on to much more expensive options. UKTUG attending INCA UKTUG are attending the Transform Digital:Bristol on 16th Sept 2015 to learn how some cities are going to introduce advanced digital communication. Compare the UK with Stockholm where you can get symmetric 1Gb internet connection for 25 a month. Many of the key players will be present.
